  1. Exercise Tips

    1.  Start Gently - If you have not been exercising regularly, take it easy at first and begin walking for 10 minutes and increase it until you are walking for 30 minutes or 1 hour.  Depending on YOUR goal.

    2.  Get A Pedometer - It’s easy to overestimate how active you really are.  Investing in a pedometer will help you get a clearer picture of your activity and make getting those recommended 10,000 steps in. 

    3.  Change It Up - If you are getting bored with your same routine it’s a good idea to make some changes.  Try something new, add new challenges, look for exercises that target different areas of the body.

    4.  Increase The Intensity - Pick up the pace of one to three minutes then return to your normal pace–repeat this cycle throughout your workout.  

    5.  Exercise First Thing - If you can, try to exercise first thing in the morning.  This will kick-start your metabolism and help you to burn fat stores all day.  

    6.  Include Weight Training - Muscle require more energy to function than fat does.  If yo increase your muscle mass you will raise the speed at with you burn calories and consequently shed fat.  

    7.  Find An Exercise Partner - this works for a lot of people but I personally prefer to workout alone.  It’s my time.  I tune everything out of my day and concentrate on me and keep out all the noise and chatter.  I get into my own “zone.”

    8.  Be prepared - If you are working out after work or school have all the times you need to go right from work or school to the gym.  If you are working out in the morning have your workout clothing ready to go.  

    9.  Listen to music - THIS is my favorite thing about working out!  I know, shouldn’t it be the workout?  But it’s the music.  I’m moving and listening to my favorite tunes.  It can’t get any better than that!  

    10.  Have fun!  This isn’t a chore.  It’s play time for you!  Recess if you like.  You’re taking a break from your busy life to have some fun, challenge your muscles, give your body some love and play time.
